AUDITION NOTICE
THE SONGS OF A SENTIMENTAL BLOKE
Eltham Little Theatre announces auditions for a stage adaptation of CJ Dennis’ Australian Classic verse novel: The Songs of a Sentimental Bloke. The season is May 8 to 23.
Features of this production:
-
It will be performed in the round, with seating on all 4 sides.
-
The “Narrator” talks directly to the audience as he tells Bill’s story. The others keep the 4th wall up.
-
Narrator and Bill will regularly swap during each performance.
-
The playing styles required will vary from naturalism, to pantomime, to farce
-
(and in case you are wondering, it’s not a musical, in spite of the title).
For those that haven’t read The Songs of a Sentimental Bloke find it online and have a read. It’s beautiful, Australian, slang-riddled writing.
